K.I.S.S. Keep it simple, stupid.

That’s pretty good advice. I’m not sure if the insult at the end is necessary, but it does capture people’s attention, right?

For some reason, simplicity is tough.

Most people are better at making simple things complex than making complex things simple. The truth is that it’s a lot harder to come up with an effective billboard or 30-second commercial than it is to write an effective 2-page pamphlet. Mark Twain captured this reality when he wrote, “If I had more time, I would have written a shorter letter.” Towards that end, I’ll stop and just get to the point.

What is one thing you need to start doing to make yourself a better leader/manager?

What is the one thing you need to stop doing to make yourself a better leader/manager?

Ok, I guess that’s two things. So pick just one. Either start doing something or stop doing something.

Keep it simple, and focus on improving yourself and your team by changing just one thing.
