Are you a ‘worrier’? Do you know anyone who is?

Although I wouldn’t consider myself to be a ‘worrier’, I’ll admit, sometimes I get caught up in worrying. Whenever that happens, I always remind myself how unproductive it truly is.

Instead of wasting our energy worrying about a possible outcome, wouldn’t it be more useful to focus our limited energy on affecting the outcome? And what if you can’t influence the outcome? Good news! You have even less reason to worry… you’ll just have to accept whatever life hands you!

Unfortunately, that’s at the root of the problem for many of us “control enthusiasts”. We know where we want to go, and we believe we know how to get there.  When it doesn’t go as planned, we worry that it won’t work out.

But still, why does that cause us to worry?

The reality is that regardless of what happens in life, things always seem to work out in the end. No, our plans might not unfold the way we originally designed them. But every time life carries us to an unplanned destination, we use it as a new beginning and start back up again. It’s been working that way our entire life, so why waste time worrying that it’s not going to work for us now?

Then again, maybe I’m wrong. Maybe worrying actually does work… 95% of the things I worry about never even happen!
