Finally, it’s Daylight Savings Time. All winter, I look forward to the weekend that we pick up an extra hour of daylight. Hopefully that means spring is right around the corner.
But, there’s a downside. As part of the deal, we “lost” an hour on Sunday. So, where did that hour go? Did it just disappear? I’m not entirely certain here, but I’m pretty sure that we pick up the hour that we “lose” in the spring when we “gain” an hour in the fall. So basically, it’s probably a “wash”.
But if we truly did lose an hour on Sunday, do you think you’re any worse off? Probably not. After all, it’s just one hour on one day, right? What if you lost an hour on each of the other 364 days of the year? How would you feel about that? Can you see where I’m going here?
So… how many hours do you think you lose on those days?
At the risk of using the same old clichés that everyone else does, here I go… Everybody has the same twenty four hours in a day.
Sure, not everybody is blessed with the same number of days in a lifetime, but each day we spend on Earth is created with the same number of hours. Yesterday, you and I shared the exact same twenty four hours. And every day before that, we shared the same twenty four hours as everyone else. I guess you could say that when it comes to each day, “we’re even”.
You see, hours and days don’t discriminate. Regardless of who you are or where you’re from, you get the same “twenty-four hour day” as everyone else.
So does that make you feel better or worse? In other words, are you encouraged by the fact that every day you receive the same twenty-four hour “window of opportunity” as the people you think “have it made”?
The reality is the hours in each day aren’t holding you back or pushing you forward. In fact, the hours in each day don’t care if you watch TV, go to the gym, or spend your day “acting busy”. The hours in each day don’t care if you squander them away by procrastinating or making excuses. The hours in each day don’t care at all about what you do with them. But hopefully you do.
What you choose to do with your twenty four hours today and every day going forward is up to you. What you do with them makes all the difference.
